Getting Started at Color Beams

Helpful details to support your child’s first days and daily school life.

View our School Calendar

Helping your child adjust

During the first days of school, one parent or guardian may stay to support your child’s adjustment. This helps children feel secure as they become familiar with the environment and routines.

To help keep our classrooms clean and safe, socks are required for any adult entering the classroom.

1. What to wear to school

Children should wear comfortable clothing suitable for active play.
Please bring a clean pair of indoor shoes for classroom use.

  • Clean indoor shoes
  • A healthy, nut-free snack (such as fruit, yogurt, or bread)
  • A spill-proof water bottle labeled with your child’s name
– Optional: milk or 100% natural juice
  • A school bag that fits inside the cubby, labeled
  • An extra set of clothes
– Including underwear or diapers with wipes, if needed
  • A small cloth, placemat, or paper towel for snack time

To help keep our learning spaces clean and comfortable for everyone, outdoor shoes are not worn inside classrooms.

Inside the school, children and adults wear indoor shoes or socks only.

To help children feel settled and to keep the school day running smoothly, families are asked to arrive and pick up on time. Children are released only with the Authorization Card issued upon enrollment.

The Authorization Card must be presented at pick-up. If the card is not available, the school will contact the parent or guardian for verification, which may take additional time.

To help keep traffic flowing along the main road during peak hours, families are asked to avoid staying longer than necessary during drop-off and pick-up.

School Days & No Class Days

In the Philippines, class suspensions may be declared due to weather conditions, public safety advisories, or government announcements. At Color Beams, decisions about class continuity are made carefully, with children’s safety and well-being as the highest priority.

We aim to keep school open whenever conditions are safe, especially for young children who benefit from routine and consistency. Decisions are based on official advisories as well as actual conditions in and around the school.

Families may always choose to keep their child at home if they feel conditions are unsafe.

1. No Class Policy

Automatic and No Class Days

  • Classes are automatically suspended on: Official public holidays, as declared by the government

Situations Requiring Assessment

Classes may be assessed for suspension in situations such as:

  • Severe weather conditions, including typhoons or flooding
  • Natural calamities
  • Labor or transport strikes
  • Political unrest or threats to public safety

Weather signal levels are considered as part of the assessment, but class decisions are not based on signal numbers alone. Local conditions around the school are carefully evaluated.

How We Decide

Decisions are based on:

  • Official government and local advisories
  • Actual conditions in and around the school
  • Safety of children, teachers, and staff
  • Availability of adequate teaching and support staff to ensure safe supervision

If conditions are safe and staff are able to report to school, classes may be held, particularly after several consecutive days of suspension.

Whenever possible, class announcements are shared around 7:00 a.m., after assessing updated weather conditions and local advisories. Conditions in our immediate area may differ from announcements issued the night before.

Families are informed through official school communication channels.
No make-up classes are held for cancellations due to weather or other unexpected events.

Health & Safety Emergencies

Supporting the well-being of every child in our care.

1. Health & Wellness

To help keep our community healthy, families are asked to keep children at home if they show signs of illness, including:

  • Fever (37.8°C / 100°F or higher)
  • Cough, colds with discharge, or sore throat
  • Vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours
  • Unexplained rashes or symptoms of contagious illness

Children may return to school once they have been fever-free for 24 hours without medication and are well enough to participate comfortably in class.

If a child becomes unwell during the school day, families will be contacted for prompt pick-up.

Good health habits are part of daily school life. These include:

  • Regular handwashing
  • Covering coughs and sneezes
  • Routine cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms and materials

These practices help create a safe and comfortable environment for all children.

As a general policy, the school does not administer oral medications, including fever, cough, or digestive medicines.

Minor cuts, scrapes, and bruises are attended to promptly using basic first aid.

This may include the use of standard first-aid creams (such as a triple antibiotic cream), warming oil, or ice packs, when appropriate.

Families will be contacted if a child becomes unwell during the school day.

If your child requires prescribed medication during school hours, please inform the school in advance.

Medications brought to school must be:

  • Clearly labeled
  • Accompanied by written instructions
  • Provided only with parental consent

A medical certificate is required before returning to school after contagious illnesses such as:

  • Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD)
  • Conjunctivitis (sore eyes)
  • Lice
  • Chickenpox
  • Measles

In the event of illness or injury:

  • Basic first aid will be administered
  • Families will be contacted immediately
  • Emergency medical care will be sought if necessary

Color Beams has established protocols for emergency situations such as fire, earthquake, or other unexpected events.

Staff receive regular safety training, and drills are conducted during the school year to ensure preparedness while keeping the experience calm and age-appropriate for children.

Celebrations, Media & Community Guidelines, Birthday Celebrations at School

We are happy to celebrate your child’s birthday in a simple and meaningful way during school hours.

1. Celebration Guidelines

Celebrations take place during snack time:

  • Morning programs: approximately 20 minutes
  • Extended day programs: up to 30 minutes

Families may bring healthy, nut-free treats:

  • Cupcakes are welcome

Please coordinate with teachers in advance so celebrations fit smoothly into the day’s rhythm.

To keep celebrations inclusive and focused on sharing, birthday party invitations are not distributed during the school celebration itself.

Invitations for parties held outside of school may be shared, provided this is done in a way that ensures no child feels excluded during class time.

Private class messaging groups help families stay connected to daily school life. These groups are intended for enrolled families only and may include:

  • Class updates and reminders
  • Announcements
  • Photos of daily activities
  • Invitations for parent involvement and school events

Photos and videos shared in private class groups are intended for personal family viewing and should not be reposted on public platforms.

Color Beams maintains official school social media accounts to share school-wide highlights and moments.

  • Group photos may be shared unless families choose to opt out
  • Individual close-up photos are shared only with prior consent
  • Families may request removal of photos at any time

At Color Beams, we value a respectful and supportive school community. Families are asked to:

  • Communicate questions or concerns directly with the school
  • Approach conversations with openness and mutual respect
  • Support a positive, inclusive environment for all children

These shared guidelines help create a school culture where children feel safe, valued, and free to learn.

Communication & Partnership

How families and the school stay connected.

1. Class Communication

Teachers use private Viber or WhatsApp class groups to share classroom-related information and updates.

Parent–Teacher Conferences are scheduled after the first six weeks of class to share your child’s adjustment, experiences and progress.

Additional conferences may be requested at any time.
Narrative reports are provided at the end of each term.

For urgent matters during school hours, families are asked to contact the school office or school secretary directly.

Teachers are fully engaged with the children during class time and may not be able to respond immediately to messages.

Narrative reports are provided at the end of each term.

Our Team & Professional Standards

Committed, qualified, and guided by experience.

1. Our Team

The educators and staff at Color Beams are carefully selected for their experience, training, and shared commitment to child-centered learning.

Our team works closely together to create a safe, nurturing, and well-prepared environment where children feel supported, respected, and free to learn.

Ongoing professional development is part of school life, ensuring teaching practices remain reflective and responsive.

To maintain professionalism and clarity, staff members may not be engaged by families for personal services such as babysitting, tutoring, or caregiving outside of school, unless explicitly approved by the school.

This helps protect clear boundaries and support a consistent, professional relationship between families and the school.

We value open, respectful communication and partnership with families. Questions or concerns are always welcome and are best addressed directly with the school so they can be handled thoughtfully and in the best interest of the child.

tuition & Payment

Clear guidelines to support transparency and planning.

Tuition at Color Beams reflects the learning environment, materials, and daily experiences provided for each child. Enrollment secures a place in the program and allows the school to plan staffing, resources, and learning experiences with care.

1. Payment Options

Tuition may be paid annually or per term, depending on enrollment timing

Weekly rates are calculated only for late enrollments and are not offered as a regular payment option

2% late payment fee may be applied to overdue balances

Tuition covers the planned learning experiences for the full term or school year.

  • No refunds or deductions are provided for missed school days, including absences due to illness, travel, holidays, or personal reasons

This policy allows the school to maintain consistency in staffing, materials, and program planning for all children.

For specific tuition details or clarifications, families are welcome to contact the school directly.
